Local Implementation of the European Landscape Convention
Conference Theme and outline
The European Landscape Convention is the first international treaty dealing exclusively with landscape. Launched in 2000 the Convention is now well into its implementation phase with over three quarters of European countries signed up and fully committed to ratify its provisions.
The Convention concerns landscapes that might be considered outstanding as well as everyday or degraded landscapes.
Getting local people involved in the planning, management and protection of landscapes is the key to the success of the Convention!
This Conference provides an opportunity to learn from our collective experience how to do this to best effect. We are offering the opportunity for all delegates to share their experiences with us. Key note presenters will introduce sessions in plenary, in workshops, and in field visits where we can identify best practice, or the lack thereof, for local community groups throughout Europe to consider.
